The book “Viagem do Elefante”, published in 2008 by José Saramago narrates the journey of the elephant Solomon and you can follow this route passing through several cities, as the author did.

In the Portuguese part of the book, Salomão, his mahout and the Portuguese soldiers leave Belém, passing through several villages until reaching Castelo Rodrigo, on the border with Spain.
